AIK in the European Cups

AIK´s record in Europe comprehend 17 seasons from the debut in the mid-60´s until the 2003 defeat to title winning Valencia CF.

AIK made their debut in the European Cups in 1965 as Royal Daring Club de Bruxelles from Belgium were defeated 3-1 on aggregate in the Fairs Cup.
Including the 2003-04 season AIK have qualified for European Cup football on 17 occasions. So far the success has been modest. The biggest achievement is the qualification for the group stage of the Champions League in 1999. AEK Athens were defeated by the only goal in the third qualifying round and in the group stage AIK denied a win against FC Barcelona and a draw at Arsenal due to injury time goals.

An all time table including all Swedish teams shows that only IFK Göteborg (Gothenburg) and Malmö FF have been more successfull in Europe than AIK.
